It's funny to me that the prescriptive treatment for weak feet is to wrap them in ever more supportive shoes, which in turn enable the feet to get even more weak, in a sort of downward spiral of foot wellness.

It will be interesting going forward to see what additional research emerges for and against barefoot running. It feels like we already have a good grip on many of the pros, but the cons tend to be mostly concerns about puncturing your feet and/or starting too fast and bringing on overuse injuries.

Anyway, guess we'll all be keeping an eye on how it progresses!

Finally, though this list is in no way comprehensive, I started tracking links to online abstracts (or full papers) related to shod or barefoot research. You can check it out here:

http://birthdayshoes.com/wiki/index.php?title=Links_to_research_related_to_shod_or_barefoot_running

Justin / Birthdayshoes.comJustinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10061184284609318553noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-763155085684029483.post-71467007941251603702010-03-16T23:12:17.347-06:002010-03-16T23:12:17.347-06:00Yea, it's kinda annoying, even distracting, ri...Yea, it's kinda annoying, even distracting, right? But, think of it this way: If she weren't knitting through the film, and so had nothing to distract, she'd just end up talking instead... ;)

(I might've tried knitting if my attention span were shorter, (read; Wasn't attempting to demonstrate just how "devoted to the artist's vision" I was. In the end, I just ended up harassing the actors to my knitter's dismay.)

Not sure about the popularity thing, as knitting has been a cornerstone for domestic femininity for time immemorial, but I have heard complaints of it becoming seen as hip, rather than the chamomile fixture of unadorned normality which it has traditionally
been. Oh well, every generation scrambles to find its own justifications for carrying on their parents' traditions, so be it.

Eventually you'll get to roll about together in a nice afghan quilt for your troubles, so it's really not too large a price to pay, and if you want to bring a smart, quirky, pretty lass into your life, that price, dealing with knitting, is pretty much an import duty.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02353743981941881197noreply@blogger.com
